Grantec's Richard M. Grant, M.Eng., P.Eng.
will speak on the design and analysis of the Sequoia
Detector Vessel at Engineers Nova Scotia
(APENS) Annual General Meeting to be held at the
Old Orchard Inn in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia.

Richard Grant is the recipient of
Engineers Nova Scotia 2010 Lieutenant Governor's
Award for Excellence in Engineering.
The Sequoia Detector Vessel and the
associated Sample Vessel, form the primary neutron containment
envelope for the Sequoia Fine-Resolution Fermi Chopper
Spectrometer at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) facility
in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Sequoia Detector
Vessel is considered to be one of the largest vacuum chambers
in North America and is the largest vacuum chamber at any
neutron scattering facility in the world.
Grantec's work for the Sequoia vessels
is featured in the March 2009 edition of the Business Excellence
(Boston, MA) magazine and the Spring 2009 edition of The
Engineer (published by Engineers Nova Scotia).
